There is an “ache” in God’s heart and once you realize it is for you and all others, it moves you into His heart for you and moves you from His heart for mankind. Everything that Jesus did came from living in the “bosom” of the Father, dwelling in an indescribable love that is the very nature of God, beyond any human love one can experience.
“Repent(change the way you think) for the kingdom of God is at hand” Matt 4:17
This was the first message the light proclaimed in the darkness. It is also the last message He wanted proclaimed in the evil days prophesied before His return. “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”. Matt 24:14
So it is the first message, the last message and was the same message of the 12, the 70, the 120, the apostles, Philip the Evangelist and the Apostle Paul. It is not only a message but a lifestyle, a place one lives. The word “sat” in Acts 2:3, describing the tongues of fire that sat on the heads of the 120, means “to bestow or confer upon someone the kingdom”. The primary work of the Holy Spirit is ushering someone into the kingdom that Luke 12:32 says is the “Fathers good pleasure to give”. Received in childlike faith as Matt 18:3 says, carried out by God “translated out of the power of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son” as Colossians 1:13 says, or a better rendering is “delivered out of or rescued out of and brought into the kingdom of the Son He loves”.
It is a life to be experienced, the abundant life Jesus promised, where one lives in the kingdom while on earth before leaving one’s earthly body. That is why it says “our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20). That is why it says to be “born again” in John 3:3 and it allows one to see and enter into the above when we are converted. It is experienced and it is demonstrated. Everywhere this message was preached, healings and miracles took place.
Jesus came saying to change the way you think. About what? The kingdom. What about it? It is “at hand”. At hand means to bring near, to join one thing to another, has approached. The rabbis of that day used this term for those who are near God. Jesus came upon the scene, “the Lord from heaven( 1 Cor 15:47-48). He lived in heaven while on earth (John 3:11-13) and began to plant the heavens on the earth as Isaiah 51:16). The message was modeled and seen by others who then did the same in the synogogues but as Luke 9:2, 4, 6 say, it was in the homes, throughout the towns and everywhere they went.
The “born agains” have a clear identity. To be born again means “to begin to be, to exist. It means to appear in history. It means to arise, come upon the stage, make a public appearance and to be a performer of miracles. It also means “to come to pass”. Think of this! When you gave your heart to God, you began to truly exist, to begin to BE. And be what? A performer of miracles! When God looks at what He wants done on the earth, He cannot do it unless He has you and me, the born agains, then something can begin to come to pass. Your identity is far more than you imagined. It is the gospel of the kingdom message that brings you near to God and joins you to the King and ushers you into the life and power of the kingdom.
The beauty of this word “at hand” is seen in the root meanings. It means “anything closely enfolding as the arms of the sea”. It is just wonderful to see that Jesus was opening up the arms of His father to embrace you when he announced the kingdom was here and now. Looking more deeply at the word born, it means “to bend”, or “an ache”. Jesus came to satisfy the ache that is in God’s heart, the yearning to love, to bring you into Himself, to love you and fulfill His desire to give you and I purpose and meaning. It is love that moved Jesus to declare the kingdom of God is at hand.
The kingdom of God is here and now, available to you and through you to everyone, everywhere now. As simple and as clear as this is, it is rarely preached in this world as Jesus did but God will have it declared and demonstrated in these times, hungrily looking for leaders who return to the gospel of the kingdom and modeling it to see a company of believers demonstrating it like Jesus did who ” went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed”, as we read in Acts 10:38.
This is what took place in Honduras in June of 2013. I spent 2 weeks in Catacamas and Juticalpa, in the State of Olancho, the largest and most difficult state in the nation. All I did was what Jesus did. I declared the message in seminars and in 5 churches and in each place there were incredible visitations of the Holy Spirit, life changing phenomenal transformations in peoples lives, salvations and the healing of hundreds of people from all sorts of disesases and sicknesses. Tumors, growths, breathing and lung diseases, lameness, all sorts of stomach illnesses, and every conceivable removal of pain from bodies! In every meeting and guess who did the miraculous! Dozens and dozens of Hondurans right there on the spot! Then we went to the streets in both cities, to homes, to the neighborhoods or barrios as they call them, and even did 4 min crusades at the end of each day along with a powerful time in the town of Santa Maria, where the lame walked in a home and in the street meeting and dozens of healings and salvations took place through the Hondurans!!!!
If you preach the right message, the gospel of the kingdom and let the born agains know that they were born from above to be His embrace, the joining of others to the Father, the satisfying of the ache in Gods heart for mankind, doing good, healing the oppressed, planting something of heaven every day and everywhere, God will say AMEN!
