The Normal Christian Life

Lord, we embrace with our hearts the truth that you invaded the kingdom and power of darkness, the domain of Satan, and rescued us, bringing us into your bosom and translating us, carrying us into the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ and that is where we are at this very moment. We have been born from above to see the above and enter into the above now. We are citizens now of heaven and everywhere we look is your face, your presence and we believe with all our hearts and doubt not.

You said that you came to give us life and that more abundantly and we will not come short of that life. You purchased that life with your blood and every promise was purchased with your blood and when you ascended on high, you were exalted and shed forth the Holy Ghost to make that life available to each and every one of us and that is just the truth. So Holy Spirit come now and make these truths experiential, a lifestyle, not a momentary touch but transform us through the renewing of our mind so we experience and live the truth in Jesus name.

**********************

All over the world the body of Christ is receiving life-changing revelation of who they are, the life that is available to them and the life that can be lived and displayed through them. The eyes that have not seen and the ears that have not heard are beginning to see and beginning to hear the reality that heaven is open now and has been ever since Jesus uttered those words in John chapter 1:51,

“Hereafter, ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man”.

He is a ‘right now’ God and there are things that are present tense realities that we need not put off to another day, another time.

We read that marvelous scripture in Matthew in the 4th chapter, verse 17….

“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”.

He BEGAN…. it was just the beginning of a new way of thinking. Change the way you think. About what? The kingdom of heaven. What about it? It is at hand, right in front of you, within your reach, now and here, AVAILABLE.

All of the kingdom of heaven is available to you and Jesus came to reveal the character of a person living in that kingdom and then what that kingdom looked like. Jesus Christ taught and demonstrated thekingdom ofGod. It was like He was always demonstrating “this is what my Father looks like and this is what my Father does here on earth”.

He was the normal Christian, demonstrating the normal Christian life…

We have been commanded in the book of Colossians to seek the above, with our minds and our affections. When do we experience the above? When we die? Why seek it then because when we die we enter right into it anyway, right? We need to s ee that the gift of the Holy Spirit was more than just the gateway into the gifts of the Spirit but the gateway into the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven is in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ spent 40 days after His resurrection “speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God”

That was the focus. That was what He was talking to them about, the Kingdomof God. When the Holy Spirit descended upon the 120, they were ushered into a new realm, a new life, a new land. They were transformed, they were empowered, the heavenly world became real to them. God had exalted His Son and when that happened God began to establish His kingdom, His rule, His reign as His Son was glorified through the 120.

Read it in Acts 2:33-35 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool.”

Let’s look at this. We need to see this. Jesus passes into the heavens and is exalted by the Father as it says here and in Daniel, being given dominion, glory and a kingdom. That was the moment He was living for, so that He could receive what? THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER! The Father promised Him something. What was the promise? The Holy Ghost. Why? So the same life He had and the same life He lived on earth could be given to a worldwide body of believers who would live that life and demonstrate that life on earth everywhere and to everyone. It is not just an anointing. It is not just for certain ones in the body of Christ. It is not just in services, special meetings. It isn’t something we go to see. It is a lifestyle available to EVERYONE and what does that lifestyle do? THE FOES OF GOD BECOME A FOOTSTOOL.

Whatever is not allowed in heaven is not tolerated on earth and whatever heaven looks like is established on earth. Jesus as the son of man established this when He lived on earth. He began to demonstrate that sickness, depression, oppression, pain, sorrow are to be destroyed as the kingdom of heaven is now at hand, so He released joy, peace, health, blessing, freedom.

Even in the midst of the kingdoms of this world, the evil empires that exist, we are citizens of the kingdom of God at this very moment and we look for opportunities to display what the kingdom of God looks like to those whose hearts are open. We begin now to put God’s foes under our feet in individual lives, and it is possible to see entire families, tribes, villages, towns, cities, regions and even countries come under the lordship of Jesus Christ and be so transformed by the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was to create a worldwide race of people who LOOK AND DO LIKE JESUS CHRIST. Living in the presence and before the Face of the Father, experiencing the favor of His love, delighting in Him and destroying the works of the devil everywhere, revealing the power of His love in signs, wonders and miracles. Revival is the normal Christian life and available through the Holy Spirit.

The kingdom of God is now and here, to you and through you, to everyone, everywhere, NOW. I’ll say it again. Thekingdom ofGod is now and here, to you and through you, to everyone, everywhere, NOW! We need to chang e the way we have looked at being a Christian.

I would like to share another passage of Scriptures which simplifies our identity and the way we live our life. It is found in Acts 10:36-39,

“The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism John preached;
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”.

Jesus was the firstborn of many brethren as the Bible says. He modeled the normal Christian life we have looked at as unattainable because it seems so impossible. So we have been taught to lower the standard Jesus modeled and have brought the word of God down to our experience and the experiences of others and have created doctrines to justify the lack of Christ likeness and of the supernatural power of God in this world. So the world does not even see what they saw back then when Jesus BEGAN to minister. Then we read the scripture that says, “greater works than these shall ye do because I go to the Father”.

Think about that. Jesus is saying I am going to the Father so the GREATER WORKS can be done. By whom? Well, some say the early church and it stopped there. If that was true, then there is a different purpose for the baptism of the Holy Spirit for us than it was for them. Or the Holy Spirit stopped being given but that is not true. Why don’t we just agree with God and not settle for less of a testimony of God to this world than what He wants to give. If He says greater works, that is what He meant.

Remember, Jesus began to be truly persecuted and attacked when He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power. Why? The anointing and power and presence of God destroys the works of the devil, starts dismantling His rule over peoples’ lives. The antichrist spirit that works with the religious spirit hates when God DOES anything. It is against Christ, the anointing. It hates the Holy Spirit. WHY? Because the Holy Spirit grants us access into the liberty, freedom and power of God and empowers us to undo sin, sickness, oppression, poverty and the kingdom of darkness.

The word or thought that God was sent on a mission is what verse 36 says. It had a starting point,Galilee. It blazed abroad and throughout the land, it was published so to speak and all heard the news and many saw it firsthand. YE KNOW is what the writer of Acts says, it was not hidden. What was this word, what was this thought that became the mission of the Son of God.

Verse 38 tells us … Jesus Christ was ANOINTED with 2 things … the Holy Spirit and Power … the idea is that He was smeared with oil, became a channel between the expanse, which is between heaven and earth. This is awesome! He was anointed, he was given what was needed by contact is the idea. It also means a storm of rain coming down and truly everywhere He went the rain of God descended on parched and dry humanity. The Holy Spirit came upon Him. What else? “POWER”, speaking of miraculous power, wonderful works, the ability to do mighty deeds. This is WHAT the writers says, YE KNOW….And what was this anointing for? Two things…“doing good” “healing the oppressed”

But in case you missed the phrase before this. It says “WHO WENT ABOUT”. He was always on the move, He was always going where the people were and everywhere He w ent was the place to do good and heal the oppressed. The normal Christian life is doing good and healing the oppressed. Where? In the place of employment, the supermarket, the home, the park, the sports event. You are in the kingdom of heaven wherever you are. We are the gateway, the channel from the realm of heaven into the realm of earth of the reality of heaven. We are on tiptoes looking for the opportunity to bless and benefit everyone and heal everyone oppressed of the devil, practical and spiritual good. It gives our life a daily focus.

We think we have to come to church or bring people to church to see the life or preach at everyone. He went about, he just went about, and did good and healed the oppressed. The devil knows that if we begin to see this and our minds begin to be renewed, that there is no place or person off limits to being invaded through ALL the people of God by the presence and power of God.

Ever since I began to understand this and teach this, it has been happening. In a nation where little of the power of God is seen I shared this in a church I used to pastor. A few days later I got a phone call from a young man who related to me that his wife and sister-in-law went shopping with him in the main supermarket in town. As they were in the parking lot they noticed a man and an elderly man who they assumed was his father. Somehow they became aware that the elderly man was not able to see. They watched as the two men went into the market and they were going home. Then they remembered the sermon along these lines and said let’s go and look for them and see if we can do good and heal. They found them and the elderly man was blind in one eye. So they said to him he didn’t have to live with that since there is no blindness in heaven and Jesus came to show that. They then asked if they could pray for him. The man agreed and right there in the supermarket sight began to be restored to his eye and they tested it by stepping further and further away. Most of the sight returned to the eye.

On a highway in pouring down rain after an horrific car accident, a Christian pulls over and the man injured is instantly healed, engulfed by the presence of God and shocked to stand in a pocket of peace in the storm. Christians take a walk in a marketplace and ask to bless businesses and buy some things and the presence of God descends upon the unsaved and people begin to weep and healing breaks out. Then one of the unsaved owners’ face lights up and he prophesies over one of the Christians. Other Christians take a walk and pray for another person’s career and they begin getting words of knowledge of the man and others.

A man sees a fellow employee in pain and says ‘by the way you don’t have to live with that’, Jesus said ‘on earth as it is in heaven’ and there is no pain in heaven’, so he prays for the man and he is healed and they go back to work. Another Christian is taking a ferry boat home from work and notices a woman unable to walk and in obvious pain. He approaches her and finds out that she has cancer, is in pain and can’t move her legs. He doesn’t preach to her, he simply says, you don’t need to live with that, and says thekingdomofGodis here and now, and after prayer the pain leaves her body and her legs get strengthened to her amazement!!

While I could share many testimonies like these that took place in meetings and services and we would imagine that is where they would take place. However, Jesus WENT ABOUT and the devil hates any kind of real display of God’s power and if it happens through a few anointed gift ministries, well that is bad enough. So he tries to keep it in 4 walls but when the body of Christ REALIZES that every member goes about, that Jesus is going about in them as they are in their sphere of influence. The y ALL look for ways to do good and be available to release SPIRITUAL POWER because they KNOW that is THE NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE, then that is when the WHOLE WORLD will become aware of the gospel of the KINGDOM.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOW AND HERE, TO YOU AND THROUGH YOU, TO EVERONE AND EVERYWHERE…. NOW…. the normal Christian life. Enjoying the King and His Kingdom and Living in the daily purpose of doing good and healing the oppressed, by the Holy Spirit … AMEN!
